If you’ve ever had an artistic thought or expression you want to pursue that’s been taunted by your caregivers, society or a potential mentor in the making, you know the existential crisis that comes to the surface when faced with the concept of what it really means to make a living. We often follow the context of our youth’s calling and then change our minds without a midlife career day available to us. Questioning our relationship to work can only find definition once we understand what work means to us. Some consider cleaning the house or doing bills as work, whereas others feel like gardening, sitting behind a screen or being a caregiver is work. I am not afraid of asking questions instead of relying on the programmed answers others have placed on me. I always make time to figure it out and follow creative pings to keep learning. Work for me is really about the question, how do I contribute to today, and I feel into where that leads me.
