“An artist is someone who works towards an extension of the regions of the individual senses.” -

- Rainer Maria Rilke

You are as big or small as you define yourself to be. Physiologically or temporally, you are here. You are now. You are free. Life is full of losses and disappointment. We know that we cannot experience pleasure without pain. It is a kaleidoscope of balance. The art of living is to learn from these experiences to nourish one another. To master one’s self is to become artful in our perception. Art today is a new kind of instrument for modifying consciousness and organising new noises of sensibility. Practising art has been radically extended, and in response to new dilemmas, tragedies, disabilities and grief, artists have had to become self conscious aestheticians, continually challenging their means, their materials and methods. As we come more into our mind’s eye and lead with wonder, we start to break a specialised language in order to capture new attention. We are what we see, hear, taste, smell and feel, which is even more powerful and profound than the amenities of ideas we have stocked in our heads. An act of art is to be a noble act.
